Happy birthday, miss Sugar!

“Heaven is a place on Earth with you”,

Lana Del Rey (“Video Games”)

It has been almost a year now. We met in a lovely summer evening in Nishi-Funabashi station and walked down the road to a coffee house. After texting for about three weeks, I finally had the chance to meet the beauty queen, gorgeous, very well spoken and intelligent Japanese lady. Going up the escalator, I was getting a little nervous, but managed to push away insecurities. I just had to be myself and hoping that who I am, is enough.

Her train, coming from the opposite direction of mine, had arrived a couple of minutes before mine and she was already waiting by the gates of the South Entrance. She noticed me pass and waved me over. She was stunning, her eyes shining beautifully and radiating an angel like purity and positivity. Her last name was Japanese for sugar. “How fitting”, I thought to myself.

We had grabbed our coffees and sat down our table, the conversation going so smoothly, it felt like we knew each-other for an eternity. At some point I asked jokingly who her favorite superhero was and why. She said that it was Spider-Man, because when Peter Parker gets bitten by the spider and discovers his superpowers, his eyesight improved, and he doesn’t need to wear glasses anymore. She added that when she was about 12, she was working hard on school, studying day and night and as a result her eyesight weakened, and she needed glasses. “What a supremely smart answer”, I thought, amazed, recalling the movie scene. I enjoyed every single moment of our meeting and was hoping that we would meet again, soon.

Over the next three days we went out two more time, once to watch a movie (Reminiscence staring Hugh Jackman) and once walking besides Ebi River in Funabashi, in both cases ending up with dinner. I knew one thing. I was enjoying myself like I hadn’t in ages, and I liked this young lady a lot.

Long story short (I’ll probably go into more details in future posts) soon we started our relationship and we’ve almost hit our one-year anniversary. Today, is my sweetheart’s birthday, so, from the bottom of my heart, I wish her all the best in life, may we celebrate many more years together, sharing many beautiful moments. Thank you, sweetie, for being who you are, a gentle companion in my life journey. May God bless your beautiful heart and may all your wishes come true. I thank God for leading me to you, I celebrate your existence and I will love you for eternity.
